Todays post belongs to Rachel Caine, author of the Morganville Vampire series.
I absolutely love, love, love it.
Book 8, KISS OF DEATH, is due out this April!
"Vampire musician Michael Glass has attracted the attention of a big- time producer who wants to cut a demo and play some gigs-which means Michael will have to enter the human world. For this, he's been assigned escorts that include both a dangerous immortal as well as Michael's all-too-human friends. And with that mix of personalities, this is going to be a road trip from hell... "
Take mystery, romance, and comedy. Throw them into a big bowl. Stir until smooth.
Result; The Morganville Vampire Series.

(And not just because there are Degrassi marathons all week and a new one friday...)
For the past couple weeks, Novel Novice held a writing contest.
You had to take two Literary Heroes from different stories and make them meet in a 500 word scene.
I entered with an encouter between Violet Ambrose (The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting) and Edward Cullen (Twilight by Stephenie Meyer).
I tried many other couples before choosing this one. Actually, the TBF / Twilight scene was the very last one I wrote, 3 days before the deadline.
Closing my eyes and holding my breath, I hit SEND on the email.
2 days later, I am jumping on my bed, screaming "YAY YAY YAY".
This is why...
"Today’s entry comes from Courtney Rae, who has written a meeting of Violet Ambrose from The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting & Edward Cullen from Twilight by Stephenie Meyer.
Courtney has done a fantastic job of introducing these two characters to each other, while maintaining the integrity of the original books and keeping the encounter believable within the context of either novel. It works especially well here because of Violet’s talent for sensing the “echoes” of people who have killed, and the fact that both books take place in Washington state. (And I confess, this was my personal favorite out of all the entries!)"
(**To read it, CLICK HERE!**)
The story also got re-tweeted and Facebooked by the wonderful, Kimberly Derting.
Yeah, I am kind of happy. :) Oh, and let me know what you think!
Please and thank you!

As of today, there are tons of upcoming books on my "To Get" list. So, I will share with you just a couple today.
Redgrave had its share of monsters before Eryn moved to town. Mauled pets, missing children.
The Delacroix family is taking the blame, but Eryn knows the truth. Something stalks the night. Wade, the police chief's son and Redgrave High's resident hottie, warns her the Delacroix are dangerous. But then so is Eryn - in fact, she's lethal.
But she can't help falling for one of the Delacroix boys, dark, brooding - human Alec. And then it all goes bad.
A normal life? Now that's the real fairytale."
When junior Jess Gillmansen gets called out of class by Guidance, she can only presume it’s for one of two reasons. Either they’ve finally figured out who wrote the scathing anti-jock editorial in the school newspaper or they’re hosting yet another intervention for her about her mom. Although far from expecting it, she’s relieved to discover Guidance just wants her to show a new student around—but he comes with issues of his own including a police escort.
The newest member of Junction High, Pietr Rusakova has secrets to hide--secrets that will bring big trouble to the small town of Junction—secrets including dramatic changes he’s undergoing that will surely end his life early."

Violet Ambrose has a secret. She hears sounds, tastes foods, feel touches that she calls echoes. Where do these echoes lead? To murderers and the murdered.
The first time she came upon a dead body, she was 8 years old. Now a junior in high school, the ability has yet to go away. Easily causing her to find dead animals.
No one knows about this except for her family and best friend, Jay Heaton.
Violet and Jay have been best friends since they were 6 years old. But now things have changed. Jay has pysically developed and all the girls have noticed, including Violet.
That's not all. Girls have been disappearing left and right. Some bodys have been found, others have not.
What will happen with Violet, her secret, Jay, and the missing girls?
If you have yet to discover Kimberly Derting and her fantastic creation, The Body Finder, do yourself a favor and read it. NOW.
This is Kimberly Derting's debut novel and the fact that she hit it out of the park makes it that much better. That is why the Author Appreciation Week spotlight shines on her today.
She writes amazingly. Causing you to get sweaty palms and you heart racing as Violet deals with her ability and falls in love.
I enjoyed this book so much that I bought it yesterday evening and finished it this morning. My mom had to steal it from me and hide it so I wouldn't finish it all in one night. As soon as I got it back, though, I ran to my room and completed the fantastic book.
Also, I was lucky enough to be part of The Body Finder Street Team. I was so ecstatic that I got to spread the word about this book of awesome around North Carolina. I'll try to post some pictures of what I did sometime this week. :)
So, class, what have we learned today? *IN UNISON* We should all read The Body Finder!

A lot of us girls know somewhat of how Penny Lane Bloom feels. She placed her heart right on her sleeve, only to get it ripped off and stomped on.
Well, Not anymore. Penny doesn't want to feel this way again, so she does the most logical thing. She swears off boys, creating The Lonely Hearts Club.
" I, Penny Lane Bloom, do solemnly swear to never date another boy for as long as I shall live.
All right, maybe I'll reconsider it in ten years or so when I'm no longer living in Parkview, Illinois, or attending McKinley high School. They are all lying, cheating scum of the earth.
Yes, ebery last one of them. Pure evil.
Sure, there are some that seem nice, but the second they get what they want, they'll dump you and move on to their next target.
So I'm done.
No more dating.
The end. "
Soon, just about every girl wants in. Penny Has started a revolution.
All is butterflies and rainbows until Penny realizes she has feelings for a guy, who isn't completely horrible. He is actually very sweet.
What will happen with Penny Lane and The Lonely Hearts Club?
While you read this, you will notice The Beatles play a major role. With character names and song references, you will want to whip out your Beatles albums and blast them throughout the house. I know I did.
The Lonely Hearts Club is very well written with a plot strong enough to carry itself, yet light enough to have you laughing at times.
Elizabeth Eulberg did a terrific job on this one. I definitely recommend this to everyone. From the hopeless romantics to the die hard Beatles' fans; enjoy.
One of my favorite Beatles' songs:

I have reviews written and ready to post, the only problem is everytime I go to type them, other things come up.
That is going to change.
This week is Author Appreciation week, so I will definitely be posting at least once a day. Maybe more if I get the time.
Also, I will post reviews that are long overdue.
I have this idea that if I can get more followers, I will do a contest. Not sure, yet, on exactly what the winnings will be; a book or possibly jewelry that reminds me of some of my favorites.
You need to stay tuned and I won't object to helping me get more followers. :)

That is just one definition of the many out there for goal.
If you haven't guessed, yet, I am going to talk about my goals. Spring Break Reading Challenge has challenged me to set just one simple goal...
My goal right now is to finish writing my book without getting distracted or discouraged. So far I have written only 4 chapters out of the many still to come. This book was born around the beginning of the year when my father told me I should give writing a go.
I read... well, to say I read a lot is an understatement. I can read a book a day, sometimes 2 days if I try to stretch it out. Reading is what I do. Also I like to make jewelry, randomly, but that's for a different post, different day.
Anyway, my dad said, "Courtney, you are bound to have so much imagination and ideas, along with the skills to write them all down and entertain those who read what you write." And because my dad said it, I did it.
Now it is all I want to do (besides reading of course). :)
But because I am not completely confident in the things I do, I need to keep from discouraging myself. So, my goal is to finish my book.
I will keep you posted on how I get through it!
And be sure to go over to Spring Break Reading Challenge and tell them about your goal. Who knows, maybe you will win a book. :)

Personally I can't wait to get my hands on a copy!
Check out the synopsis from GoodReads::.
"When Sophie Mercer turned thirteen, she discovered that she was a witch. It's gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-Gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie's estranged father--an elusive European warlock--only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it's her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hecate Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward prodigium, a.k.a. witches, fae, and shapeshifters. By the end of her first day among fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard. Three powerful enemies who look like supermodels; a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock; a creepy, tag-along ghost; and a new roommate, who happens to be the most-hated person and only vampire on campus. Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her friend Jenna is the number one suspect. Meanwhile, Sophie has a more personal shock to grapple with. Not only is her father the head of the prodigium council, he's the most powerful warlock in the world, and Sophie is his heir. As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all prodigium, especially her. "
Sounds pretty freaking awesome, right?
And I found a contest for it...
It is from Victoria Schwab at http://veschwab.livejournal.com/.
March on over to the site and check out the rules.
The contest will run until NEXT wednesday, so hurry!
